Located in downtown Ashland, Bloomsbury Books offers community events, book clubs, a coffee house, and specializes in contemporary fiction, children’s books, fiction, young adults, local authors, and a large Shakespeare and theater selection. Their name comes from a group of informal writers, intellectuals, and artists from the Bloomsbury district in London during the first half of the 20th century. Bloomsbury Books opened in 1980 and is exclusive with their choices of literature placed in the store. They’re honest and objective and do not accept money from publishers for placement of books or reviews. In spite of the appeal of online shopping, Bloomsbury books offers an unduplicatable experience of shopping in a brick and mortar book store. Once you’ve selected your titles, head upstairs to the Bloomsbury coffee house, located on the second floor of Bloomsbury books. The coffee house has been dedicated to providing the people of Ashland locally sourced, organic, and healthy products since 2003. In addition to a full espresso bar, they also serve teas, sodas, and other drinks for non-coffee drinkers, as well as a wide variety of treats including a wide variety of gluten free options.
